Saturday (SHPCL): Mitchell Cooper top-scored for the 1st XI hitting 48 of Reed's 145 all out. Sean Tidey chipped-in with 28. Radlett lost only 5 wickets in passing the target; 2 wickets each for Karl Ward and Ed Wharton plus a run out by Karl. A somewhat depleted 2nd XI could manage only 134 in reply to Lutonians' 307 for 4, so not much to write home about there! The Thirds were reasonably well-placed at 109 for 3 when the abandonment came after 25 overs. Paul Garrott was out for 33 and Rob Willoughby was 55 not out. Earlier, Rob had taken 3 wickets as had Owen Hughes and Joe Graves added 2 victims in Bamville's 233 all out. Nothing had been arranged for Sunday. Enjoy the Bank Holiday as best you can! PGB

Saturday SHPCL: The 1st XI came close to victory away at Welwyn Garden City when chasing 227 all out; Reed ended on 220 for 9. Toby Fynn and Rob Lankester had taken 3 wickets each but Reed's star batsman was Will Heslam who was 9th man out after scoring 111. At The Green, Southgate Adelaide could not contend with Rupert Martin who returned 5 for 28 as their innings petered all out for 87, some 143 below Reed's Second XI's total of 230 for 7. Chris Jackson was again the host's mainstay by scoring 81. Once more at the Freman Oval, Reed 3rds notched-up in excess of 190 and this time were on the winning side. George Garrott scored 70, Scott Nash 40 and Under 15, Charlie Waters, 23, closing on 192 for 8. But the bowling honours went to young Will Archer, the fourteen-year-old claiming a superb 5 for 18 as Letchworth Garden City were bowled out for 98. Expect Match Reports to follow shortly. Sunday: Players across the age-range from 14 to 66 along with Smith family relatives, friends and well-wishers gathered to celebrate popular Vice-President Graham Smith's 70th Birthday. If it can be newsworthy, then only 7 fixtures in the entire Herts League programme were concluded on Saturday; none of them involved Reed teams. Therefore, after 5 weeks and with 4 more to go, Reed 1st XI are in 5th spot in the Premier Division; the Seconds are joint top in 3B; the Third team occupy 7th position in 10A. Saturday, SHPCL: Mitchell Cooper put in a good all-round performance with 3 wickets and 41 not out in the 1st XI’s victory at North Mymms. Sean Tidey took 3 wickets and Matt Giblin 2 as the hosts were all out for 152. Reed made short work of the run-chase as Jack Caine (31) and Stuart Smith (24 not out) supported Cooper’s innings to win by 4 wickets. The Seconds continued their 100% record by bundling Sandridge out for 148 then losing only 3 wickets in reply. Julien Fynn led with 5 wickets and Karl Ward took 4. Tom Greaves scored an eighty and Chris Jackson was 32 not out when the winning runs came. At the Freman Oval, the Willoughby brothers, Rob (65) and Kieren (44 not out), were instrumental in the Third Team’s total of 194 for 9. George Garrott chipped in with 25. The wickets were shared between Garrott, Greg McKinnell, Will Archer and Charlie Walters but they could not prevent Rickmansworth reaching their target with 4 wickets and 2 overs in-hand. Sunday: The friendly against Little Hadham ended as a Tie - no super overs in this format! Little Hadham batted first and posted 152. Ben Mansfield got a wicket in the first over then Joe Graves and Will Archer both bowled very well getting 2 wickets each. Reed's runs from Matt Giblin (32), Will Heslam (33), and Will Archer (31 not out) who came very close to hitting the winning runs but unfortunately there was a run out when the scores were level with the last man in.
