Headlines: Week ending 2nd August

The First XI were at home to Potters Bar and couldn't quite manage to match their 242 all out. Jack Tidey had taken 5 visitors' wickets then Richard Wharton scored 56 and Rob Lankester 31 in the run chase but Reed ended on 214 for 8. Meanwhile at Wheathampstead, club captain Tom Greaves, returning from injury, skippered the Second XI to a five-wicket victory and led from the front with a half-century. Chris Jackson was 76 not out when Reed overhauled the hosts' 224 for 5, there had been 2 wickets each for Matt Giblin and Julien Fynn. Sam Osborne, from the Under 15 Colts, made his debut for the Seconds scoring an impressive 32. The Third Team's match was cancelled. Andrew Emms had also taken the decision to not hold his President's Day this year.
