President’s Day is back on!

Dear All, Following the weather affected NVC Quarter Final match, which had to be replayed at Dinton, on what should have been President’s Day, I amongst many, have just about recovered from the double disappointment of losing to Dinton AND having to call off the President’s Day celebrations! BUT ALL IS NOT LOST!!! A PHOENIX IS RISING FROM THESE ASHES!!! After many requests, I have decided to re-instate President’s Day, which will become the final game of the season, to be held on………………… SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2014 The match will commence at 11am, the Teams lunch at 1pm, and the Charity Lunch at 1:30pm. All the previously announced arrangements will stay in place, as stated in my original letter; what IS required is your attendance on the 20th!! I look forward to seeing you to enjoy a fitting finale to this eventful season! Andrew Emms President

President’s Day Has Been Cancelled Due to Davidstow National Village Cup Replay

Dear All, PRESIDENT’S DAY 2014. As many of you are now aware, I have had to cancel the above together with the Charity Lunch, following the tremendous storm that hit Reed last Sunday during our quarter-final NVC match against Dinton CC. Under NVC rules the match has to be replayed, in it’s entirety, at Dinton’s ground this Sunday, which meant that the President’s Day arrangements became unviable, in that many of the players and their relations/supporters will be at Dinton. I am very sorry that I have had to take this action, but I hope you understand that realistically, I had no other option. Whether it can be resurrected towards the end of the season is something I am exploring, as many players have expressed a desire to still, somehow, have the day, but hopefully, there is still a huge amount of fixtures to be accommodated, even without President’s Day! I look forward to meeting with many of you at Dinton CC on Sunday to witness Reed finishing the job they started last Sunday! Yours sincerely, Andrew Emms-President.

President’s Day Has Been Cancelled Due to Davidstow National Village Cup Replay

Well, here we are again! Is it a year since the last one? This year, President’s Day 2014 will take place on Sunday, 27th July at Reed Village Green, commencing at 11am. The format will be similar to 2013, 50 overs per side; the teams will be captained by Tim Tidey and (my son), Andy Emms. Tim keeps wicket for the 2XI and is Jack and Sean’s Dad. Ex Reed player, Andy, now lives in Suffolk with his family, and plays for Garboldisham CC, where Reed will play the final game of their Norfolk Tour on the 26th August. Only an hour’s drive away - all welcome! The match is scheduled to last all day. The Village Green will look its best, and we hope for similar weather to last year! A barbecue will run from mid-afternoon, and the Club bar will be open for refreshments, as usual. There is a playground on the opposite side of the Green. There may even be a paddling pool to keep the children happy, if not clean! So, please do come along and support the Club. Make a day of it and pray for good weather, yet again! Yours sincerely, Andrew Emms President.

Colts training is now in full swing

The Colts training is now in full swing. Well over 50 young cricketers come each week to be trained by our fully qualified coaches. Reed has a long tradition of bringing through our own homegrown talent and our 2012 Yorkshire Tea National Village Cup winning side was made up of 10 players who had come through the Colts ranks. Many of the coaches have also come through the Colts system. We encourage our coaches to take their qualifications so they can pass on their own knowledge with the most up to date methods. Coaching co-ordinator Tom Greaves has been called up to the Hertfordshire 20/20 squad. Along with fellow coach Jack Tidey, both will be representing Hertfordshire Stags this season. We run Under 11, 13 and 15 age groups, all taking part in either the Cambridgeshire or Hertfordshire league. Click here to see the kids in action enjoying a sunny Sunday mornings coaching.
