Reed’s unbeaten Under 11 squad seem likely to clinch their Cambridgeshire League Championship title after their most recent victory over Thriplow and Whittlesford at Reed.

The visitors batted first and made a solid start but the introduction of Ben Jackson saw him produce a burst of 3 quick wickets which transformed the position. George Garrott 2 – 6 also bowled well whilst Kallum Ward, Michael Fox and William Heslam all chipped in with a wicket apiece. James Hooper contributed an excellent catch as Reed took 9 Thriplow and Whittlesford wickets and restricted them to a nett 240 – 9 in their 15 overs.

On recent form this total ought to have been well within Reeds grasp but they made life more difficult for themselves by losing 4 early wickets and at the 9 over mark the Reed total was a nett 228 – 4. However, once again Reed’s powerful final two pairs produced the goods. Willaim Heslam 14* and George Garrott 5* put together a partnership of 21 to put Reed 9 ahead with 3 overs to go. Final pair Kallum Ward 15* and Ben Jackson 1 played within themselves to add a further 16 runs and steer Reed safely home to 265 – 5 and victory by 25 runs.

Reed play their final match against Royston on the Heath on Friday night seeking a clean sweep of victories for the season to make absolutely sure of their league championship.
