Reed Sunday XI, weakened by NVC call ups traveled the short distance to Hatley on Sunday. On a balmy May afternoon, Reed lost the toss and were invited to bat. An inauspicious start ensued with Bowcock falling in the 4th over with the score on 6, and Blissett came and went with the score on 16. Naeem (18) and Watts (43) pushed the score onto 45 before the former was stumped. Bowles (30) then played a fine innings before he was bowled attempting to accelerate the run rate. Michael Robertson faired rather better in this task hitting a rapid 34 before being caught in the deep. With Archer (10*) creaming the last ball for four. Reeds innings closed on 156-8.

Hatley’s reply started with a stutter Archer (3-21) clean bowling 3 out of the top 4 batsman. Richard Robertson also bowled an extremely tidy spell, and was extremely unfortunate, to say the least not to pick up more than one wicket!! But with Hatley struggling with 6 wickets down, Hastings (64) and Knibbs (43) took advantage of the part time bowling used to try and use up the spare 8 overs. Robertson and Archer returned to the attack, to finish their spells but to no avail as Hatley reached the  target with just under 5 overs to go.
