Reed Under 9s IIs unbeaten run continues

Reed were at home to Sawbridgeworth on Monday evening. Batting first Ollie and Luke batted solidly against Sawbridgeworth’s strongest bowlers, before Effie and Lily (who hit a great 4) followed up. Matthew and Lenny batted next and where the only pair not to get out. And then the hard-hitting Henry and Atharva finished off the innings where Reed scored 227-9. Henry top scored with 11, Ollie got 7 and Matthew 6. After an inspirational TeamTalk from captain Luke, Reed bowled tight and straight. Pick of the bowlers was Effie taking 4-5, Lily 2-1 (including a maiden) and Atharva 1-13. It got very tight and Sawbo needed 2 to win off the last two overs and in the penultimate over Luke bowled a maiden before Ollie bowled 5 dot balls leaving Sawbo needing 1 to tie or 2 to win off the last ball. Sawbo got bat on ball and with the encouragement of the away supporters they scampered through for a single to also finish on 227-9, so the game finished as a tie. This was a great advert for children’s cricket with every pair batting for four overs, bowling for two overs and importantly with every child walking off the pitch with a smile on their face. Colts’ Round-up

The programme for all the Reed teams has started in earnest. There have been several changes to the match dates since the Club’s Fixture Card went to print in early-April meaning you will have to keep up to date by looking at the “Events Calendar” on this website. Hannah and the Team Managers inform me when matches have been re-arranged for one reason or another. Then, once I know them, I also enter the results in the post “Fixtures & Results (All of 2019)”. In the “View Entries” box I suggest you choose 100 then scroll down the list. Under 13s versus Royston (CYCA Cup). Reed 179 for 2, (Sam Osborne 33 retired, Charlie Butler 32 retired, Will Archer 21, Jacob Vincent 20 not out) beat Royston 67, (James Mitchell 2 for 8, Iestyn Hill 2 for 13), by 112 runs. The next opponents in the U13 CYCA Cup are Cambridge St Giles on a date to be fixed. Under 13s versus City of Cambridge (CYCA League). Reed 108 for 7, (Sam Osborne 33 retired, Charlie Butler 30 retired) lost to City of Cambridge 154 for 2, (Sam Osborne 2 for 18), by 46 runs. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-———————— Under 11s versus Thriplow (CYCA League). Reed 255 (Net) lost to Thriplow 283 (Net) by 28 runs. Thriplow batted first and made 283. Captain Tom Green was the pick of the Reed bowlers. In reply Reed ended up on 255 with Tom Green again contributing with the bat. His partnership with Eddie Cook gave Reed hope with others chipping in but unfortunately we couldn’t match the Thriplow score. The young Reed team consisted of 4 debutants - including 9 year olds Oscar Brickles, Jamie Rogers and Joseph Rhodes and [...]

Reed colts in winning Area team

In the Hertfordshire Area competition at Under 11 level, two of Reed CC's young colts played their parts to help North Herts become County Area Champions. Pictured proudly displaying the Cup are Reed's Adam Gardner and Charlie Walters who were in the North Herts Area Team that won 6 out of 6 of their league matches. Well done!

From the Menu along the top of this Homepage, choose "History", then "Seasons Awards" and pick the relevant Year Group. The earliest awards for Colts date back to 1991.
