A cloudy afternoon at Reed, the toss won by skipper Archer, Reed choosing to bat. Doubts briefly crossed the skippers mind when the opposing captain, advised him he would have bowled anyway because of his strong bowling attack.

Archers doubts soon dismissed as Tom Fulk (75) set about the bowling. Ed Blissett departed for 10, but Masseh Naeem continued in Fulk fashion to push the score along. Fulk eventually fell to a tired shot LBW, but Naeem continued at a pace with Mike Jackson (20). Jackson was clean bowled and Heslam came to the wicket to support Naeem, who with more bludgeoning of the attack, reached his maiden century for Reed, finishing on 101 not out at stumps. Reed setting a challenging target of 235-3 off just 36 overs.

Reed got off to a flyer, Johnson  dismissing 3 ‘Cutters bats for just 6 runs in his opening hostile spell. Stuart Smith bowled quickly picking up a wicket with his unique brand of pace bowling. Other Reed bowlers all chipped in with regular wickets but the last 2 wickets were proving a stubborn task, until Jackson’s (2-8) flight and guile reduced the visitors to 108 all out. Reed won by 127 runs.
