Reed went into this match without two of their most experienced and reliable bowlers and were soon under the cosh as Totteridge’s recent signing Khan plundered runs off the Reed opening attack.

Richard Johnson 1-66 made a breakthrough, but runs continued to flow freely as Reed’s attack failed to finds its customory consistency. Andrew Emms 15 overs 4-72 took most wickets for Reed whilst Khan stoked his way to 112.

Once he departed some semblance of control by Reed returned, but Totteridge wore well set and declared early at 242-5.

At this point Reed had no points on the board and there only real option was to go for the win.

Peter Baker and Paul Watts rattled up a quick 42 before Watts went for 15. Ian Fulk joined in and maintained the run flow. Baker struck the ball to all parts before falling for a fine 61 with the score at 97 and Reed were well on the way to a winning challenge.

Skipper John Heslam maintained the momentum taking the score to 152-2 before holding out on the boundary for 30 and then Reed suffered some slight slippage collapsing to 193-7. Fulk departed for 44. At the stage hard hitting Jim Allsopp was promoted up the order and took the attack to Totteridge once more. Ably supported by Andrew Emms 15, Allsopp smashed 41 not out including 4x 4s and 2x 6s to Reed to an exciting win, 9 wickets down, but almost 10 overs to spare.
