Reed’s 2nd XI travelled to Enfield to play Holtwhites Trinibis on a blisteringly hot Saturday in a bid to try and keep their slim chances of promotion alive.  Reed’s stand in skipper Steve Dunn lost the toss and was asked to field on what was a good batting wicket and fast outfield.  Holtwhites top order set about the Reed bowling with an attacking intent but lost wickets on a regular basis with Ian Roberts 4-43 off 15.3 overs and young Karl Ward picking up 3 for 27 impressing in the difficult bowling conditions.  Only Kayle for Holtwhites with an impressive 74 really making good use of the pitch and when he was dismissed, caught excellently by Baker the innings soon ended with Holtwhites making 206 all out off 47 overs.

With plenty of overs to get the runs Reeds opening batsmen Watts and Fulk set about reaching the target and with the aid of some erratic opening bowling were soon ahead of the required run rate.  Watts was eventually dismissed for 20 but this brought Blissett to the wicket, and he along with Fulk kept the score above the required rate with both playing some dazzling shots to all parts of the boundary.  Despite Holtwhites trying to slow the game down in the hope of upsetting both players rhythm it had little effect as they shared in a stand of 122 until Fulk was eventually dismissed, bowled for 78 to a ball that kept suspiciously low.  This just left 27 runs required and was enough time for Blissett to make a deserved half century (51no) and to allow Martin a short cameo with an attacking 16no including a stunning pull for 6 over the square leg boundary to win the game in style. The win moves Reed into 6th place in the league.
