Reed II maintaned their late push for promotion from Herts League Division 7 with an emphatic win against Eversholt II. Reed won the toss and put Eversholt in and the visitors never made any serious progress against the tight Reed attack.

William Clarke, 14 overs, 2-20 bowled a hostile and controlled spell, well supported by Jim Allsopp. Eversholt struggled to score at 2 an over and Reed’s fielders supported their bowlers with sharp catches and good ground fielding. Jason Archer kept the brakes on with 19 overs, 2-55, but the star turn proved to be Jim Allsopp in his second spell of well controlled in swing bowling claiming an overall 5-29 in 20 overs. Eversholt eventually struggled to 111-8 in their allotted 53 overs.

Reed got off to a shaky start losing Watts and Baker with the score on only 14, but Chris Shorrock 17 and Ian Fulk 27 steadied the innings before Skipper John Heslam, 32 not out and Will Clarke, 15 not out saw Reed to a comfortable victory by 6 wickets with 13 overs to spare.
