Woodford Green
won the toss and decided to put Reed into bat on a bright sunny day.
Reed got off to a quick start mainly helped by extras. Peter Baker
was the first to go for 11, but this then brough Simon Jackson to the
middle. He and Baz Curtis out on 82 for the 2nd wicket. It was a
patient stand against some tight Woodford Green bowling. Curtis
finally went for a very restrained 41. Jackson went on to make 32.
Simon Roberts opened his account with a towering six, but was one of
Nicholls’s 3 victims for 24. Reed were now running out of time and
need quick runs, but instead lost quick wickets. Only Richard
Robertson managed to break the strangle hold. He hit a quick 19 not
out, but declared on 170-9. Nicholls bowled 17 overs for just 42
taking 3 wickets. He was helped by Boby who bowled 14 overs for 35
runs and took 4 wickets.

Reed really needed quick wickets to take so control, but Woodford Green put on 61 for the first wicket. Martin Seale took 2 wickets in his opening 3 overs and gave Reed a chance. This just brought Boby to the crease and he struck the only 50 of the game. After he was run out for 57, Woodford Green only need 6 to win. Reed didn’t give up though. They took another wicket and made getting those runs difficult. In the end Woodford Green got over the finishing line with just 3 overs to spare. Seale ended up with 4-42 from 14 over.
