A new first wicket partnership record for Reed’s Second Eleven was set at Preston on Sunday. Between them, Ed Blissett and Will Heald put-on 207 before Heald was caught-out for 96 in the 36th over. Amazingly, his partner also failed to reach three figures as Blissett lost his wicket for 98 soon after. They had had a quiet start and at the 20 over stage, Reed ‘s score was 80, but in the following 15 overs Heald and Blissett added a further 127 runs together. At the innings close, Reed were 233 for 4 with the young spinner, Hill, a late introduction to the attack, the pick of the home bowlers with figures of 3 for 11. For the home side, D Saunders got a start and scored 24 anad later skipper Luxton also reached the twenties. Hill, (16), and Terrata, (31), bolstered the middle-order, but wickets fell regularly to father-and-son bowling act, Alan, and Keiran Ward. Alan took 2 for 10 and Keiran 3 for 18. Paul Garrott chipped in with 2 for 23 in the unfamiliar role of slow bowler and the support was marvellous as 5 catches were held. Preston ended on 145 for 8 wickets after 40 overs. |
