Reed performed dismally on Sunday in this Transitional League match. Put into bat on a rain affected pitch, Roger Bowcock took-on the youthful Babraham attack and reached 12, but already 2 partners at the other end had departed for ducks! Edward Garrott looked composed adding a further 8 runs, but then Reed collapsed even more. At one stage being 32 for 6. Steve Smith had bagged 4 wickets for 11 and Loz Poulter 2 for 9. Unlike England the day before, who recovered from a similarly disastrous position to reach 196, Reed’s veteran tail-enders managed only to limp to an all-out total of 88. Steve Lovegrove scored 10 and Peter Baker scratched-around for 32. Young Sam Palmer had weighed-in with 2 wickets for 16.

Babraham’s reply was led by Chris Palmer who was not out on 40 by the end. Reed had struck with 3 wickets, (all LBW), but Dale Archer hit a rapid 17 not out, to secure victory by 7 wickets in the 21st over. Ed Garrott took 2 for 18 with his off-spin and Marcus Baker took 1 for 18.
