Reed II recent poor form with the bat seemed to have improved as having won the toss and batted on a red hot afternoon as Ian Fulk (18) and Peter Baker (42) put on 70 for the first wicket. A mini-collapse to 87-3 was rescued by Richard Johnson (55) and skipper John Heslam (39) who put on 96 for the 4th wicket.

However, Reed let things slip again late on as pushing for a declaration total, 216-4 became 238-9 before Reed declared at 242-9 after 51 overs. Reed struck early in Watford Towns innings with Jim Allsopp bowling Ibby with the score on 10.

However, this proved to be Reeds last wicket as despite the bowling being accurate, Scurr and Vimal both made good use of the excellent Reed wicket and pushed the score rapidly on with a series of fine attacking shots. The fast outfield proved merciless as Reed suck manfully to the task but struggled to make any inroads. Both batsmen reached chanceless hundreds of a type rarely seen at Division 7 level. Watford cruised to a 9-wicket win with 10 overs to spare.
