Roadmap for the Return of Recreational Cricket (Step 3), 11th June 2020

MESSAGE FROM THE ECB, 11th JUNE 2020. ============================================================================================= We [ECB] have identified five steps for the recreational game’s proposed phased return in England this summer. England is currently in step 3 – which allows for small group training sessions of up to six people while respecting social distancing.* The Welsh government is due to review current restrictions on 18 June, after which time we will provide further guidance. As cricket is a non-contact sport that involves individual disciplines within a team environment, forms of the game can be played while respecting social distancing. We will continue to be led by UK government advice and will only move into step 4 when the guidance allows and when it is medically safe to do so. ============================================================================================= YOU CAN READ THE LATEST ON THE ECB's WEBSITE, www.ecb.co.uk ============================================================================================= Whilst there, check out some of the cricket / ball skills you can practice at home. There is a free App that you can download aimed at youngsters (search for "Dynamos Cricket App"), but perhaps older players might benefit as well! There are also some film clips accessible on YouTube that I have seen - perhaps you have already discovered them too. * Please wait for further news how Reed CC will shortly implement plans for Small Group Training Sessions. All the best, PGB, Hon. Secretary, Reed CC.

REPETITION – NETS ARE CLOSED

To Reed CC Members, I am repeating the message from last weekend conveying the Club Committee’s decision that the Nets at Reed CC are CLOSED and NOT to be used. If people choose to ignore this Notice then Reed CC take no responsibility. However, the full Guidance from the ECB can be read on their website, www.ecb.co.uk A summary is reproduced below but if you need to read the links you will have to go their website. I highlight this paragraph: ECB is clear that outdoor facilities should only reopen if those responsible for them are ready to do so and they can do so safely, following public health guidance: no club should reopen their outdoor facilities if they feel unable to meet the requirements. In considering the FULL Guidance Notes, your Club Committee decided that RCC would NOT reopen Nets so please heed the advice and resist the urge to use them. PGB Peter G. Baker, Honorary Secretary, Reed Cricket Club. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary of guidelines for outdoor cricket facilities use In summary: 1 You can exercise outdoors on your own, with members of your household or with one other person from outside your household while keeping two metres apart at all times. You must only exercise in groups of no more than two people, unless you are exercising exclusively with members of your household. 2 Social distancing of at least two metres must be maintained at all times (unless all participants are members of the same household). 3 Only one-to-one coaching is permitted per session. 4 Nets should be used on an ‘every other’ basis, leaving one net free between nets. 5 Clubhouses can be reopened in a limited way for operational reasons (e.g. [...]

NETS CLOSED AT REED

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued guidance on the 15th May 2020 regarding Cricket Net facilities and their management. I know many of you would have received or read their message which recommends certain high levels of safety criteria to be met before Nets can be used for practice. Consequently, Reed Cricket Club’s General Committee has considered this guidance and has decided that the Nets on The Green at Reed will remain closed indefinitely. Reed CC take no responsibility for anyone choosing to ignore this notice. We will revisit this decision as and when further advice and guidance is issued. Please stay safe and take care. PGB Peter G. Baker, Honorary Secretary, Reed Cricket Club. www.reedcricketclub.co.uk

Wednesday evenings at the Clubhouse + Indoor net dates (Seniors and Colts)

A reminder that Reed CC’s Howard Marshall Pavilion is open for business every Wednesday evening from 1930hrs onwards in the winter months. Come and have a chat, put the world to rights, watch soccer on the TV, throw a dart or two (or three!), play pool, cards or table skittles or simply enjoy the comfortable surroundings in the lounge bar. Bottled beers, lagers and ciders are on sale at “winter prices” (meaning cheaper than normal); plus soft drinks and nibbles such as crisps and peanuts, some, (I am reliably informed), at even further reduced prices. Every Wednesday evening through to April – when the cricket should begin outdoors with some friendlies (and beer prices go up)! Fixtures have been added to the website calendar. The dates of the Village Cup Rounds are also included although the draw is not expected to take place until mid-February. Click on “View All Events” on the right of this homepage on the RCC website then choose the months you want to look at. Friendlies will begin on 18th April, Reed host a Group Final of the Herts T20 on 2nd May, the 1st Round of the Village Cup is on 3rd May, then the Herts League commences on Saturday the 9th May. The league season will end on 5th September. Before all that, there are Indoor Nets for senior players, (i.e., 16 years and older), at Burloes Farm, Royston on every Sunday in March (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th) plus two sessions at Melbourn Village College on Mondays 16th and 30th March - see the "Events" for times.
