1st XI 2014 Averages

The 1st Xl Averages are now published after the very successful but “So near .. yet so far” season that the team enjoyed. Click here to see the full list. Jack Tidey was a clear leader in the bowling department taking the most wickets (46) and leading both the SHCL Match Averages (32 Wickets @ 15.62) and the NVC Averages (14 Wickets @14.07). Overall his 1st Xl competitive match stats read 214.3 Overs 34 maidens 46 wickets at 15.15 Each. A great performance! Toby Fynn burst on to the bowling scene this year and Tom Walsingham was challenging for a place towards the end of the season. On the batting front things were rather more split. Our two long standing top performers again battled out the top spots. Chris Jackson topped the SHCL Averages with 461 Runs and an average of 46.10, whilst in the 7 NVC Matches James Heslam averaged 99.5! Overall, despite 2 spells of injury absence, James topped the combined averages with an average of 41.58 against Chris’s 38.29. William Heslam was the teams top aggregate run scorer over the year with 578 runs in the season. This was a very good performance considering he routinely opened against the top flight bowlers every week, and also faced the new ball and had to deal with any early innings pitch issues. Tom Greaves was the teams outstanding all-rounder scoring almost 500 runs in the season at an average over 25, and taking 40 Wickets at an average of 20.18. Sean Tidey also enters the “all rounder” category with his 35 wicket-keeping victims being backed up with 542 1st Xl runs at an average of just over 30! We still have a predominantly young [...]
