On saturday Reed travelled to Flitwick hoping to make it 5 league wins on the bounce. Reeds afternoon started poorly when captain James Heslam lost the toss and reed were asked to bat first.
Openers Will Heslam and Sam Fairbrother started well reaching 24 before Heslam (6) was caught at square leg. 24-1 became 24-2 the very next ball as Flitwicks overseas Ricky Joseph surprised Kallum Ward with a quick bouncer which he could only glove through to the keeper. Fairbrother was now joined by captain James Heslam they quickly set about rebuilding the reed innings before Fairbrother (28) became Josephs third victim. Heslam (27) followed shortly after leaving Reed at 83-4. Stuart Smith (5) was the next man out caught by Twist off the bowling of Joseph and reed looked in real danger at 105-5. Tom Greaves and Ed Garrott knew they had to form a partnership and together with good running and the occasional boundary they reached 140 before Greaves was dismssed by Ellis for and impressive 44. Garrott followed shortly after and Reed were now 141-7. Sean and Jack Tidey added 11 before jack (10) was bowled by Twist (11-1-48-3). Reed looked in trouble yet again but a partnership of 36 for the 9th wicket between Sean Tidey (22) and Mitchell Cooper (15) frustrated Flitwick. Cooper departed in the last over before Tidey was run out off the last ball of the innings leaving reed 190 all out in their 44 overs.
In reply, reed started well with Jack Tidey and Toby Fynn taking the new ball. Tidey struck with his second ball as Russell left a straight delivery. 4-1 was 18-2 a few overs later as Fynn (6-0-21-1) found the edge of H.Thurstance bat and he was caught behind by Sean Tidey diving one handed to his right. G.Thurstance and Alder added 51 to the total before J.Tidey (14-4-45-7) dismissed G.Thurstance after a spectacular catch from Smith.69-3 became 69-4 four balls later as Tidey had Davies caught behind by brother Sean for a duck. Tom Greaves (7-2-18-1) trapped Alder (24) LBW in the next over and Flitwick looked under pressure at 71-5. 71-5 became 75-7 as Tidey took two wickets in the balls in the next over. Flitwick could never recover from the position as Tidey bowled impressively with Greaves. Flitwick were shortly 81-9 as Tidey picked up a wicket in each of his next two overs. Mitchell Cooper replaced Greaves in the attack and took the last wicket with his first ball to finish Fl itwicks innings 81 all out. Reed winning by 102 runs.
