Josh Poulton (26) and Rhodri Hughes (23) made a solid start with an opening partnership of 45. Hugh Wrigley made a quick-fire 33 (retired) and Ian Curtis 10. Haverhill

Reed lost the toss and were put into bat. Josh Poulton and Cemal Ramadan got the side off to a good start, Ramadan loosing his wicket in the 4th over with 12 runs to his name. With Josh Poulton having to retire in the 11th over with a score of 33 and the next 4 wickets falling for only 11 runs Reed were looking frail. Tom Baker took 2 wickets and Scott Bishop came on 3rd change and began with a wicket maiden. Haverhill had pulled back the run rate and Reed needed a decent partnership to bring them back on track. This came in the form of Ian Curtis(7no) and Connor Poulton(25no) who put on 38 in the last 7 overs to post a final score of 118. The Haverhill openers Sam Street and Josh Ruthven were excellent in reply, keeping well up with the 6 per over run rate, they looked comfortable. Reed bowlers were frustrated with the first wicket of Street(8) not falling until the 11th over off Rhodri Hughes. Ruthven had to retire just after on 31 but Haverhill still had more batting to come. Will Bailey(22) stayed well and pushed 4 boundaries off the bowlers. Reed still had more to do. Unfortunately for Haverhill Bailey's partners could not contribute as much and the run rate slowed. The significant wicket of Bailey fell in the 17th over and Haverhill could not come back in the final overs. Reed scraped through with an 11 run victory.

Granta

Reed won the toss and chose to field. It was cloudy and rain was in the air. With Cambridge Granta being top of the Premiership Reed knew they were up against it. However, Grantas opening batsman did not get the ball away scoring slowly and losing a wicket in the 6th over to Connor Poulton (4-1-30-1). By the 7th Granta were only scoring at 4 an over. A couple of expensive overs then saw Granta pick up the run rate. 2 more wickets fell, 1 to Josh Poulton and a stumping by Ian Curtis off of the bowling of Rhodri Hughes. Excellent fielding all round kept Granta to 118 for 3 after 20 overs. Granta's top scorers being Robert Marmion 24 and Tom Cox 31 no. Going into bat Reed new they were in with a chance, at a run rate of 6 per over and with the rain setting in the pressure was on the fielding side. By the 7th over Reed were above the run rate by 8 runs but two wickets down. Josh Poulton had to retire with a score of 33 and it was up to the middle order to keep the run rate up. Two quick wickets fell in the 9th and 10th over and the run rate slowed. Jack Caine put in a sterling performance of 20 no, undaunted the Reed batsmen never gave up but fell short by 26runs. The winning side having to work hard for their win.

Abingdon

On a cloudy but warm evening, Abington won the toss and chose to bat. It was a good wicket, good enough for Reece Fitzgerald (4-1-7-3) to take a wicket with the second ball of the innings, a catch to Cemal Ramadan, the first of three to his name. Things did not get better for Abington loosing wickets rapidly, by the 7th over they were 18 for 6, Dan Howard taking 2 of these (4-0-18-2). Barnes and Mitchell then steadied the side with a partnership of 31, taking Abington to 47 off 12. It was looking more promising until Shai Cookson Swan took two wickets in his 3rd over, a stumping to wicket keeper Josh Poulton and a stinging close range catch to Jack Caine. Shai (4-0-16-3) and Connor Poulton (2.2-0-6-1) took the final wickets, leaving Abington all out for 65 off 17.2 overs. In reply Reed gave the less experienced batsman a go at the top order Joe Graves (14) and Sam Rice (10 inc 2 4's) both gave impressive performances getting into double figures. Dan Howard although just the 4 runs kept the innings ticking. The top 4 batsman (with the help of extras) got Reed to 47 by the 13th over. Ashwell

Reed won by 113 runs Reed won the toss and elected to bat. It was a sunny and warm evening and Josh Poulton and Cemal Ramadan opened the batting. By the 3rd over the Ashewll bowlers had gone for 30 runs including 4 boundaries. Unfortunately Cemal Ramadan lost his wicket in the 5th over for just 9 runs, but a respectable partnership of 41. Rhodri Hughes then came the the crease. With Josh Poulton in top form Hughes(14) stuck with him till the 11th over with a partnership of 32. Jesse Chappell(15) then followed with an impressive 58 partnership, Poulton still taking the bowlers on with well placed boundary shots. A fitting end to the innings Connor Poulton partnered his brother Josh to his debut century 103 not out. Connor also not out on 20. Final score to Reed a season best of 194 runs for 3 wickets. Ashwell had a mountain to climb, opening batsman Michael Giani was a handy bat and was making good boundaries, however, Ashwell lost 3 early wickets, two to Reece Fitzgerald (4-1-14-2) and a run out saw the 3 batsman go with no score. Giani (15) made it to the 9th over partnered by Tim Greenbank before he ran himself out. With the score at 49 and an over rate of 13, it did not look a getable target for Ashwell. Greenbank however put in a sturdy 30 not out performance in order for Ashwell to bat out the overs with just the loss of one more wicket. Final total for Ashwell 81 for 5. All six Reed bowlers did well, best of though, had to be Rhodri Hughes 4 overs for just 10 runs.

Linton Away

Reed under 11's continued their unbeaten run to 5 matches and currently sit top of the table following their comfortable win against Linton. On a cold Monday evening, Reed lost the toss but were asked to bat first and made steady progress throughout the innings. Linton's bowling being quite wayward enabled the extras to stack up without much risk of a wicket being taken. Good calling and running between the wickets enabled Reed to reach 244 before two quick wickets fell. A blistering final 3 overs from captain Connor Poulton (22) accelerated the score to 262-4 off 15 overs at the end of the innings. In reply Linton started well and were up with the run rate at the half way stage but tight bowling from Benji Wrigley (3-0-0-3), Owen Hughes (0-2) and Edward Kershaw (1-4) quickly turned the game in Reed's favour. Poulton (4-7) again showing his class taking 3 wickets in 4 balls at the end. Linton finished on 223 for 6

Waresley

Reed’s Sunday second team hosted Waresley for a 40/40 friendly at the Green. With the visitors team made up with just a few more colts than our own Captain Peter Baker having won the toss decided to bat first. Reed had a slow and steady start reaching 20 for the first wicket in the ninth over. Opener George Greaves was then joined out in the middle by Marcus J.E. Baker, the two then went about increasing the run rate. Greaves and Baker played well notching up singles, converting them into two’s and hitting the ball hard for several boundaries. They had been able to fend off most of the opposition bowling until Baker (59) was out LBW, ending their 94 run partnership for the second wicket in just 14 over’s. Greaves (40) following soon after, bowled. Reed then lost some cheap wickets but Kallum Ward (21), James Bloor (36) and Alan Ward (14) batted well to get Reed to a good score of 217 for 6. The final partnership of Bloor and A. Ward put the fielding side under extra burden in the closing over’s with some quick singles, adding to Warseley’s annoyance having given away 45 runs in extras. Card pick of the Warseley bowlers 4-0-19-3. Despite their young side Warseley certainly had players who knew how to bat, opener Lawrence gave a fine performance for his 52, Key (33), Bowls (16*) also added runs as well as brothers D. Patel (26) and N. Patel (51). As for the bowlers Matt Giblin (6-0-43-1) bowled well but was often hit unjustly to the boundary but picked up a wicket for his woes. Neil Haslam (7-0-37-1), G. Greaves (6-1-22-1), J. Bloor (6-0-26-0) and K.L. Ward (6-0-27-0) [...]

Woodcutters

Having won the toss Reed’s Sunday Second captain Peter Baker inserted the visitors, Woodcutters. Neil Haslam (4-2-2-2) struck on his first ball and thus began a bizarre collapse, Matt Giblin led the way for Reed finishing with incredible figures of five for nine. P. Baker then rotated the bowlers seeing that the opposition were really struggling against the opening bowlers with the score on 8 for 7. Which became 19 for 8 after David Hill (5-0-24-1) also struck. Woodcutters then found runs down the order from Browne (28), Proud (14) and Clifton (13*) as they finished on 95 all out from 27 overs. Nick Green (4-0-16-1) and Maseeh Naeem (1-0-4-1) picked up the last two wickets. In reply Reed made up the runs easily, David Johnson top scored with 33 supported by P. Baker (19) and M. Naeem (17*) who finished with Scott Caine (10*). Reed winning by 7 wickets.

St. Margartsbury

After some early, cheap wickets Reeds Sunday seconds were bolstered by a partnership between John Kershaw and Keiren Willoughby in their friendly match against St Margaretsbury at the Green. The steady work by the two halted the flow of wickets and got the score ticking over. Kershaw was eventually out caught behind for 52 and Willoughby was also out soon after for 14. A brief cameo by Marcus J.E. Baker (14) added some runs but did not last for long. Captain Peter Baker (27*) then worked with the rest of the tail to take Reed to 146 for 9. Evidently St Margaretsbury has a strong youth set up as the young team quickly made runs. S. Spencer (54) and N. Sheffield (11) led the way and the winning runs were hit in only the 27th over. Reed picked up five wickets shared between K. Willoughby (5-0-37-3), Alex West (3-0-25-1) and George Garrott (3-0-16-1).
