Reed won the toss and decided to put Welwyn Garden City into bat on a dampish track. The Reed opening attack kept the Welwyn Garden City batsmen under the cosh early on and made scoring hard. William Clarke got the early wicket Reed wanted having O'Regan well caught for just 7. Peter Costen then joined the attack and quickly removed the other opener. Then Welwyn Garden City rebuilt with Brian and Hyatt putting on over 100 for the 3rd wicket. They still weren't scoring at a quick rate though. Martin Seale then came back into the attack and removed Hyatt for 33. Brian went on to make 115 not out and was the mainstay of the Welwyn Garden City innings. Reed made a quick start with Baz Curtis hitting a rapid 23. He was first out with the score on 29. Reed suddenly found themselves 55-5 and in deep trouble. Richard Tufton and Phil Divers started to steady the ship. They rebuilt well and got Reed into a good position with a solid partnership. Divers was the first to go for a good 30. Peter Costen replaced him and started to smashed the ball to all parts of the ground.Tufton was finally run out for 57, his maiden first team half century. Peter Costen continued his smash and grab raid on the Welwyn Garden City bowling. He hit a huge six to put Reed to within striking distance. Martin Seale came in with 9 balls to go and hit a couple of 2s and then with 3 balls to go smashed a 4 to win the came. Reed got home with 3 wickets to spare.

Report:Woodford Green

Woodford Green won the toss and decided to put Reed into bat on a bright sunny day. Reed got off to a quick start mainly helped by extras. Peter Baker was the first to go for 11, but this then brough Simon Jackson to the middle. He and Baz Curtis out on 82 for the 2nd wicket. It was a patient stand against some tight Woodford Green bowling. Curtis finally went for a very restrained 41. Jackson went on to make 32. Simon Roberts opened his account with a towering six, but was one of Nicholls's 3 victims for 24. Reed were now running out of time and need quick runs, but instead lost quick wickets. Only Richard Robertson managed to break the strangle hold. He hit a quick 19 not out, but declared on 170-9. Nicholls bowled 17 overs for just 42 taking 3 wickets. He was helped by Boby who bowled 14 overs for 35 runs and took 4 wickets. Reed really needed quick wickets to take so control, but Woodford Green put on 61 for the first wicket. Martin Seale took 2 wickets in his opening 3 overs and gave Reed a chance. This just brought Boby to the crease and he struck the only 50 of the game. After he was run out for 57, Woodford Green only need 6 to win. Reed didn't give up though. They took another wicket and made getting those runs difficult. In the end Woodford Green got over the finishing line with just 3 overs to spare. Seale ended up with 4-42 from 14 over.

Wormley

Reed won the toss and decided to bat in this friendly game against Wormley. Reed were quickly 7-1, but Peter Morley and Mark Peart rebuilt the innings before Morley was caught for 9 with the score on 40. This was to bring Simon Roberts together and the start of a stand of 171. Both Roberts and Peart hit the ball to all parts of the ground. A mixture of good running and quality stroke play kept the runs flowing. Peart stroked 7 4s in his 76 and Roberts smashed 10 4s and 1 6 on the way to 102. Both overcame the problem of having to come off numerous times for rain. They were both unbeaten as Reed posted 211-2. In reply Reed quickly had Wormley in trouble. Both Ian Roberts and Martin Seale got in to the Wormley batting. Roberts picked up 2 of the first 3 wickets to fall. Between them they had Wormley 25-3. When Wormley became 54-4 it looked like Reed had done the hard work. Then Wormley put on 82 for the 5th wicket before Scott Rouse bowled Uwins for 66. Martin Seale came back into the attack and managed to stop the runs flowing putting Wormley behind the run rate. Phil Divers was bowling well at the other end too and forced McCarthy into going over the top and he was well held in the deep by Simon Roberts. Seale picked up 3 more wickets leaving him with figures of 4-31 from 12 overs. In the end Reed couldn't get the last man out and Wormley were 9 down for 192 and the match was drawn.
