On-Line Scoring and Stage 1 Umpires’ Courses

MESSAGE PUBLISHED ON BEHALF OF THE HERTS LEAGUE AND ECB. ======================================================== Because of the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will not be any face-to-face Umpire courses this winter. However the ECB Association of Cricket Officials (ACO) has produced an on-line version of the Stage 1 course that is free of charge. All three are being offered free and will be of interest to those looking to develop their skills and knowledge in these areas: “Basics of Umpiring” – This course is aimed at club umpires who just need to know the key laws and basic field craft and those players who umpire 5 or 10 overs at the weekend.http://booking.ecb.co.uk/d/jnqlsg “Umpire Stage One” This course is designed to give an overview of the basic Laws of the game and how to apply them and introduce the principles of field craft and match management. A number of Umpire Courses will be held in the Autumn. Scorer and Umpire Courses As you might be aware the MCC has introduced a new set of Laws which will be in effect for the coming season. At the same time the ECB Association of Cricket Officials (ECBACO) has introduced a new set of courses which are now focussed on umpiring skills and much less on the Laws. The MCC has introduced a new on-line resource which anyone is able to access. You will know that we have a continuing need for scorers and umpires and that the League is keen to encourage clubs to put people forward to become more capable and qualified.
