Colts’ Presentation & Enrolment, 26th March

The cricket season is rapidly approaching, so it is time to start thinking about Colts coaching sessions on The Green at Reed. But first there will be a Colts’ Presentation and Enrolment Evening in the Pavilion on Thursday 26th March at 7.30 p.m. with awards, reports and presentations to last season’s outstanding players. Club Chairman, John Heslam will be the Guest Presenter. All existing Colts are welcome, as well as new ones. If you have any friends, boys or girls, who might be interested, bring them along to the evening. If you were awarded a trophy last year, please return it to Cilla Robertson by Saturday 28th February for engraving. Caps and cricket equipment, including Abdo guards will be on display to order or purchase. If you are selected to play in a match, you are expected to wear full whites and a Reed Cricket Club cap. In addition, you will need your own Abdo guard, clearly named as with any other personal equipment. All players, who do not have their own helmet, are measured at the start of the season, so that you and your manager ensure that you wear the correct helmet when batting and / or wicket keeping. The continued success of Reed's four Senior XIs in the Hertfordshire Premier League means that coaches and the facilities are unavailable for running Colts' practices on Saturday mornings. Therefore, we shall continue with coaching on Sunday mornings during 2015. The first session for the U11s and U13s starts on SUNDAY 26th APRIL from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. and continues until Sunday 19th July. The first session for U15s and U16s is on FRIDAY 24th APRIL from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. until Friday [...]

New Life Members

At our recent Club AGM Keith Collins retired from serving on the General Committee of Reed Cricket Club after 40 years of selfless commitment to our Club. Keith served our Club as a Player, a widely respected local Umpire, and as our Bar Manager for very many years, playing a huge role in our Clubs development. In addition, Keith’s wife Rosemary, and her late mother Kath Ford, have made the Sunday Cricket Teas at Reed a renowned feature of North Hertfordshire Cricket, and Keith and Rosemary are thankfully still committed to the Club in this regard. At the first meeting of the 2015 Reed CC General Committee, Club Chairman John Heslam proposed that both Keith and Rosemary be elected LIFE MEMBERS of Reed Cricket Club. The Committee unanimously agreed this proposal, and we are a pleased to announce that Keith and Rosemary Collins have been added to the small and very select list of Life Members of Reed Cricket Club”.

Umpiring Courses This Winter

The league is running umpiring courses again this winter. If you're interested please email the course leaders. There will be courses at four venues around the county running from late January or early February and details are set out below.  In addition it is intended to run a weekend course before next season for anyone interested but unable to commit to the evening courses. You will know that the League has been encouraging clubs to increase the number of qualified umpires and you will be aware of the match rules with regard to umpires in Divisions 3 to 6.  Over the last four years the response has been encouraging and I would like your support in maintaining the good level of response. May I ask you to make every effort to encourage fellow club members to put themselves forward for one of the training courses.  The feedback from those who attend is very positive and clearly they are of benefit both to our clubs and the League as a whole. Baldock Town CC - commencing on Tuesday 28nd January at 8.00pm Course leader - [email protected] Hertford CC - commencing on Monday 27th January at 7.30pm Course leader - [email protected] Radlett CC – commencing on Tuesday 11th February at 8.00pm Course leader - [email protected] Watford Town CC - commencing on Wednesday 29th January at 8.00pm Course leader - [email protected]

Paul stands down as Fixture Secretary

It is with regret that after many years of valued and much appreciated service we have to announce that Paul Watts is stepping down as Fixture Secretary of Reed Cricket Club. Paul has steered our Clubs fixtures through a period of significant expansion, during which we have also enjoyed unparalled success on the field. We now operate 4 x Saturday Xl's, and have been operating 2 x Sunday Xl's, as well as entering most available Midweek Cup competitions. Paul has proved a stalwart, capable and most diligent Fixture Secretary and we thank him most sincerely for his efforts and contribution. Paul will remain active within our Club, in both his highly respected Umpiring position, and he is also allowing his name to be put forward as 2014 Season Selection Committee Chairman. We also hope that the very popular "Watts Curry Nights" at the Club will continue to be a feature of the Clubs Social Calendar! Pauls departure does mean that we are looking for someone to take over the position of Fixture Secretary at our Club. The office requires filling ASAP as the 2014 Fixtures do require the usual "Winter Work" to be ready for the new season. Paul has a lot of experience, an information bank, and a proven methodology of success, which he is willing and able to pass on to the new incumbent Fixture Secretary. He will also be available to offer advice as necessary to his successor. Could YOU take on the role?  Will YOU take on the role?  Somebody needs to commit and make themselves available very soon - our AGM is on THURSDAY NOVEMBER 28th. In relation to the Fixture Secretary task - the vast majority of Saturday Fixtures are devised, determined and published by [...]

£1200 raised on President’s Day

Dear All, Following the Charity Lunch that took place at Reed Cricket Club on President’s Day  recently, I am pleased to announce that £1200.00 was raised for Parkinson’s UK, and a cheque for that amount will be presented to their representative soon. We were blessed with glorious weather and an entertaining days’ cricket, watched by a large contingent of family and friends, some of whom travelled a considerable distance to attend; many of these people attended the lunch, which was a jolly affair, with wonderful food supplied by Capers Catering. A large array of raffle prizes were on offer, and the generosity of those who supplied them as well as those who purchased tickets,  was a major contributor to our eventual total. Reed Cricket Club members and supporters have proved themselves to have big hearts and deep pockets, and I am so proud of, and grateful to, all who made the day a great success! I aim to repeat the event in 2014 and subsequent years, choosing a different Charity each year; I hope and know I will be able to count on your continued support. Thank you, once again. Andrew Emms President Reed Cricket Club.
