Reed made the trip to Guilden Morden last Sunday in a 40-over friendly. Winning the toss skipper Rhodri Hughes opted to bat first. Toby Fynn departed for just 1 in the second over, Paul Garrott and Marcus Baker set about building an innings defining 89 partnership for the second wicket. Baker punished any loose bowling and reached a well deserved 50 off just 49 balls. He was bowled with the score on 90 for 57 and Garrott fell for 26 three balls later. Skipper Hughes (39) forged good partnerships with both Gregg McKinnell (14) and Lloyd Bowman (16 not out) as they ended their 40 overs on 169 for 5. The Guilden Morden wickets shared around their bowlers.

Guilden Morden lost Ben Ingrey for just 6, bowled by Joe Graves (8-1-31-1), opener Ben Bates was looking to dominate the Reed attack and when he was joined by Sam Ingrey at 45 for 2 they punished anything that was remotely loose. Steve Hughes and Will Archer being targeted the most. The South Cambs. side was well ahead of the run rate and looked set to reach the winning line with plenty to spare.

However, at 122 for 2, Michael Juckes came on to bowl and quite literally turned the game on its head. He took three wickets in his first over, including both Ingrey for 46 and Bates for 60 and in just the space of 26 balls, he had taken seven of the remaining eight wickets to fall. He finished with the mind blowing figures of 2.4-0-8-7 as Guilden collapsed from 122-2 to 135 all out in 21.4 overs. He was supported by McKinnell with figures of 3-0-12-1. A marvellous turnaround and a great game played in a good spirit.
