Reed 2s maintained their excellent form to stay top of the table, thanks mainly to a stunning batting performance from Chris Jackson and James Sandford.

On an excellent wicket, hosts Stevenage 2s won the toss and surprisingly inserted Reed into bat. Richard Barlow (24) and Phil Frenay (45) again got Reed off to an excellent start, before both fell in quick succession.

This only served to bring Jackson and Sanford to the middle and what followed was carnage. Jackson, who before this game had scored over 350 runs without being dismissed in the last 5 games, continued his unbelievable form as he stroked the Stevenage bowling all over before falling off the penultimate ball of the innings for a fine 109. Sandford was perhaps even more impressive as he notched up his maiden league ton for Reed, accelerating from 50 to his final score of 127 not out in double quick time. In doing so, the pair set a massive new third wicket partnership of 231.

Reed posing a mammoth 313-3 in a rain reduced 47 overs.

In reply, and following the undisputed tea of the season, Stevenage never really got going. Rupert Martin (2-21) was the pick of the Reed bowlers as he came back well from his ‘none-fa’ the week before. Wickets also went to Ed Garrott (1-33), Jack Caine (1-16), Matt Bowles (1-46) and Marcus Martin (2-17) as Stevenage stuttered to 170-8 at the end of their innings.
