Support Richard Wharton at the T20 Pro:AM

We are pleased to announce that Richard Wharton has been selected to play in the Greene King T20 Pro:AM this Sunday, 12th August. He is playing in the Barmy Army side whose semi final starts at 11am at Northamptonshire County Cricket Ground. Richard would love fellow members to come along and support him and the team. Asked about the event Richard said, "I am obviously very proud to be representing the club in such a big tournament which has got current professionals and legends playing in it. It’ll be fantastic to play at a wonderful ground and hopefully in front of a large crowd! It’ll be like Lords 2017 all over again! I have done a lot of training, fitness and cricket, and had talks about phycology and nutrition!" You can follow Rich on Twitter at @RichW15 Tickets can be purchased here. More information about the event is available here. Follow the event on Twitter at @T20ProAm

National Village Cup News

For those who have not had the chance to look at the results of the NVC Semi-Finals that were played yesterday (5th August) here are the scores. Liphook & Ripsley 218 all out. Mayfield 125 all out. Fillongley 206 for 8. Folkton & Flixton 207 for 3. Liphook & Ripsley will be playing Folkton & Flixton in this season's Final at Lord's on Sunday 16th September. With each club having 15 characters in their names, they might need more space for the engravers to fit all the letters in. And by the way, the organisers have just requested me to hand the Cup back in time for the Final! PGB

Headlines; Week Ending 5th August

SATURDAY (SHPCL): The Firsts in their last "Timed Match" were all out for 144 at Hemel Hempstead. Tom Greaves made 38 and Stuart Smith 31. Hemel made hard work of it but got home with 3 wickets intact. Tom Greaves took 4 wickets and Stuart Smith 3 catches. It is back to Limited Overs cricket next week for the last 4 fixtures of the league season with the team placed in 6th position in the table. The Seconds would have wanted 20 or 30 more on the Green. Chris Jackson scored a masterful 124 (next best was Jack Caine's 36), but 218 for 7 wasn't quite enough. Northampton Exiles chased it down with 10 deliveries remaining losing 7 wickets on the way, 3 of them falling to Jack Caine. The Seconds too are in 6th place. Meanwhile, at Freman College, the Thirds would have wanted one or two hundred more! Hertford knocked off the target of 132 in 26 overs without losing a wicket. Earlier, Paul Garrott had top-scored with 38 and Richard Robertson 25 for a Reed team that comprised 9 players over the age of 48. Needless to state that the Thirds are well-below the dreaded "dotted line" and are heading for relegation. SUNDAY: No fixture. Despite Reed having a full team available, there were no takers through the Cricket Conference meaning no Sunday afternoon Friendly at Reed today. There is an Under 13s match scheduled for 1000hrs on Sunday morning versus Bishop's Stortford. AREA COLTS: Reed hosted two Area Matches during the week. On Tuesday Herts North Area Under 12 (B) beat West Area then on Thursday Herts North Area Under 12 (A) also won against West Area. QUIZ: 7 Teams participated [...]
