SUNDAY – (NATIONAL VILLAGE CUP SEMI-FINAL):
A superb hundred-run partnership between James Heslam (55) and Sean Tidey (75) gave Reed the impetus as they went from 69 for 2 at drinks after 20 overs, to their final total of 227 for 9 after 40. Bledlow Village never really got going as Jack Tidey blew the top-order away with 5 for 21. Tom Greaves took-out the tail as the hosts were skittled for 85.
The Semi-Finals of the Village Cup will be played on Sunday 6th August.
Reed will be at home to Aston Rowant (Oxfordshire), who beat Ynystawe.
Astwood Bank will host Sessay.

SATURDAY:
The Herts League programme was virtually wiped out by rain. Of a total of 129 fixtures, 21 never started; 98 were abandoned before completing the first innings; 1 match was conceded and just 7 were played to a conclusion. (At time of writing, 2110hrs, two results have not yet been submitted.)

Reed’s three teams started – but never finished! (It’s 10 points each side for an abandoned game.)

Reed Firsts bowled 26 overs away at Dunstable. Tom Greaves and Karl Ward took 1 wicket each in the host’s 136 for 2.
On the Green, Reed Seconds were in trouble at 86 for 8 after 35 overs. The returning Marcus Martin contributed 30 of those runs.
At Shenley Cricket Centre, the Thirds tossed-up ready to play on the nursery ground. Before they started, Shenley Village’s First XI match was transferred off their main ground to the nursery because the match officials decided that the outfield was drier! Nevertheless, that match was abandoned without a ball being bowled! Subsequently, Reed Thirds then began their innings on the main ground – it lasted 1 run in 1 over before it rained and everyone went home!

COUNTY MATCH:
Reed Village Green was the setting for Hertfordshire Over 60s “B” Team playing against their counterparts from Norfolk on Thursday. In a 45 overs per side match, Herts scored 180 for 7 then Norfolk responded with 165 for 8. In the North / East Group of the 60+ 2nd XI Championship, Herts retain top spot having lost only one of their 10 matches so far.
