4th XI receive award

4th XI Skipper Lloyd Bowman was presented with the Regional Division C East Champions trophy by Saracens legend Chris Ashton at the SHPCL Trophy Presentation. It was Lloyd's first season as Captain and to win the division was a great achievement. Next season they will play in Regional Division B East (RE4) and start away to Baldock III.

Wednesday evenings at the Clubhouse

A reminder for those not attending indoor Nets on a regular basis that the RCC Clubhouse is open for business every Wednesday evening from 1930hrs onwards. Come and have a chat, put the world to rights, watch soccer on the TV, throw a dart or two (or three!), play pool or simply enjoy the comfortable, newly-redecorated surroundings in the lounge bar. Bottled beers, lagers and ciders are on sale at “winter prices” (meaning cheaper than normal); plus soft drinks and nibbles, such as crisps and peanuts, some, (I am reliably informed), at even further reduced prices. How do we manage to stay solvent? Save on your own energy and heating bills by popping up to Reed. Every Wednesday evening through to April - when the cricket should begin outdoors (and beer prices go up). See you, PGB, Hon Sec, Reed CC P.S. All the Fixtures, apart from the odd Conference game, are now in the website calendar. Click on “View All Events” on the right of this page then choose the months you want to look at. Friendlies start on 9th April and the Herts League on Saturday the 7th May. The season ends in September.

Club Photographer Wins Award

Many of you will remember either playing with, or posing for photographs taken by, Steve Nash. Steve played for the Club from the late 1980’s through into the 19990’s and many of his sports and team photo’s grace our pavilion walls. Photography was a hobby for Steve, and he particularly enjoyed photographing Greyhound Racing which was another of his loves. In the 1990’s Steve took the big decision to forego “conventional work” and strike out as a Sports Photographer. He has provided material to the Racing Post since the publication commenced over 25 years ago, and in recent years has been employed by them. He is also fairly regularly seen on, and involved with, Sky Sports Greyhound Racing coverage and is very well respected a a fine photographer within the Greyhound Racing fraternity. Steve’s prowess and skill has now been recognised with a prestigous formal award. Steve has been awarded the 2015 Greyhound Writers Association "Services to Greyhound Racing Award”. Steve will be fast out of the traps to collect his Award at the Greyhound Racing Board’s Annual Award Evening at the Royal Lancaster Hotel later this month. Despite his busy professional life Steve still does work for the Club when asked, and I am sure you will join us in offering him and Liz our congratulations on his latest professional recognition.
