Reed opened the season away to a side who narrowly missed out on promotion the previous season. With a weakened batting line up the plan was to bowl first and restrict their hosts. This they did to a degree Woolley only offering resistance scoring a near chanceless century, with the next highest score 19 and only two other players reaching double figures. Julien Fynn picking up 4 wickets, R Martin 2. The total of 200 to win was probably 50 higher than Reed had hoped for.
Reed made a steady start losing G Garrott run out when the score was on 48. This brought bowler of the day Fynn to the wicket and with Lovegrove began to take hold of WGC’s bowlers. Lovegrove fell for 58 but Fynn 88 no and Scott Caine 23no continued in a similar vein to see Reed home by 7 wickets with 7 over’s remaining.
