Julian Fynn struck in the first over of this friendly played at Reed on Sunday and further wickets fell steadily as Guilden Morden reached 157 for 7 in 40 overs. Neil Haslam’s 2 for 13 were the best bowling figures whilst Fynn took 2 for 20, Chris West 2 for 25 and Jack Tidey 1 for 20. Highest scorers for the visitors were Dulby, 29, Belson, 27, and Newland, 26.
Guilden were able to boast having Reed’s First XI bowlers in their ranks as both Graham Wilson and Peter Tidey, (each resident in the Mordens), opened their attack. After early wickets, Reed were bolstered by Marcus Baker hitting 31 and Keiran Ward, 14. More wickets tumbled but some good shots were played by Julian Fynn, 38, and Jack Tidey , 31, as they then put on 63 for Reed’s 7th wicket. Once these had departed, Guilden soon wrapped up the innings and Reed were all out for 142 leaving Guilden victors by 15 runs. Wilson, 3 for 16, Mills, 3 for 37 and Coverdale, 2 for 23 were the main strikers.
