With the large contingent of supporters travelling away to watch the first elevens attempt to make further progress in the Village Cup, second eleven captain Peter Baker had to take a weaker side to the North Herts League fixture against Breachwood Green.
Winning the toss Baker put the home team into bat and kept pressure on the hosts as they struggled for runs ending on 148 for 10 after 39.2 overs, Merchant (73) and Haroon (22) the only two men to reach double figures. The Reed bowling talent shared the wickets about between Julian Fynn (7-0-27-1), Jack Tidey (6-1-17-3), Peter Baker (8-1-32-1), Fergus Martin (6-1-26-3) and Jason Pallet (7.2-1-29-1).
The chase started with openers P. Baker (19) and F. Martin (15) building a solid base. George Greaves (18) and Graham Hazard (12) also added runs onto the total but the rest of the side struggled to get going against the Breachwood bowling attack including Aftab (8-2-17-3) and Hall (7-0-37-3). Reed was eventually bowled all out 45 runs short of their target in the thirtieth over.
