Old Haberdashers
Old Haberdashers won the toss and decided to field against Reed in last Saturday's league game. Reed made a positive start as James Bradford and Mark Peart put on 54 for the first wicket. Bradford was the first to go when he had scored 29. He was just getting in to gear with some crushing blows. Trevor Saunders joined Peart and continued why Bradford at finished. He had reached a swift 24 including a huge six, when he miss timed a drive and was caught a mid on. Peart had made a classy 33 when he was also caught. Reed were then 110-3 and looked set for a good score. Unfortunately it was then that the wheels fell off. Reed lost their last 7 wickets for just 41 runs. They set Old Haberdashers just 152 to win. Reed made a great start in the field when Andrew Emms, on his return to the Reed league team removed Davies for just 6. The Reed bowlers managed to keep the visitors under the cosh and when they were 38-3 it looked like Reed might be able to force a victory. Peter Tidey bowled 20 overs for just 49 runs picking up one wicket. Emms finished with 2-30 from 11 overs. Roberts, Robertson, Peart and Simon Roberts all tried to get another break through, but Phipps and Foley put on 114 for the 4th wicket and saw Old Haberdashers to a 7 wicket victory.
