COLTS: The Under 11s lost to Royston scoring 76 runs to the hosts' 87. The difference was that Royston lost 7 wickets giving them a net score of 252 but Reed lost 12 wickets! (Net score 216. Charlie Walters scored 14 and Jacob Vincent but both were out once each. James Heslam reports that Reed Under 9s gained more valuable experience in two defeats to strong Knebworth Park and Baldock sides. On Tuesday, Knebworth batted first and scored 286. The pick of the Reed bowlers was Josh Heslam taking 1-4 off his 3 overs. In reply Reed made 229 with Jamie Rogers top scoring with 8. It was a memorable night for 5 year-old Eddie Heslam who made his U9s debut standing-in at the last minute in his school uniform doing the Reed All Stars proud by bowling one over for just one run and scoring two singles! Then on Friday Reed batted first and scored 220. Unfortunately with all run scoring batsman getting out at least once no one scored more than 2 runs overall for Reed. In the 2nd innings Reed bowled pretty well but only Josh Heslam took a wicket against strong Baldock batting so they made their way to 280 despite another fine run out by Oscar Brickles. SATURDAY (SHPCL): Rich Wharton's was the stand-out performance for the Firsts hitting an undefeated 125 against Sawbridgeworth. Rob Lankester scored 63 as Reed closed on 290 for 7. Sawbo were never in the hunt and also lost 7 wickets but scored only 168 in the process. Karl Ward took 3 for 27. The Seconds travelled to Flamstead and had the hosts all-out for 145, Mitch Cooper claiming 4 of the wickets to fall. [...]
