Batting first on a bright and sunny evening Hertford, who won the toss and chose to bat, got off to an excellent start on a firm flat Hertford wicket and lightening fast outfield. Barbet and Ray were merciless on any bowling that was short, full or gave them width. Despite the Reed bowlers bowling reasonably tidily Hertford accrued 64 - 0 after 10 overs and progressed to 70-1 before Ray holed out to an excellent catch at deep mid wicket confidently taken by Scott Caine. Carlsson kept up the momentum before falling run out for 9 whilst Manning 14 and the solid Barbett 48 not out saw Hertford to 124 - 2 off their 20 overs. The excellent batting conditions also favoured Reed's opening pair who set about the demanding reply with gusto. William Heslam and Oliver Benham demonstrated an array of fine strokes all around the wicket, punished any loose bowling, and also ran between the wickets exceptionally well. At the halfway stage the pair had amassed 79 - 0 but in the next over Benham fell caught to a good catch for a hard hit 46. Heslam however continued to play a fine innings of cultured strokeplay and, joined by skipper Sean Tidey, took the Reed total to 124 in the 18th over before Heslam had to retire unbeaten on 53. With only one more needed to win Sam Deville struck the required single leaving Tidey on 15 not out and Reed victors by 9 wickets with 13 balls to spare. A thoroughly entertaining match, played in a sporting manner, where the bat dominated the ball on an excellent batting wicket.

Put in to bat on an initially warm and sunny evening Reed got their season off to the worst possible start with the luckless Lewis Fitzgerald needlessly run out off the very first ball without facing. However they picked up after that with William Heslam and Reed Captain Shaun Tidey putting on a brisk 33 before Tidey fell caught at a fly slip for 12 in the 6th over. The fluent Heslam, who demonstrated scoring shots all around the wicket, continued in dominant form and was joined by Sam Deville who punished anything loose with some hard hit boundaries. For Broxbourne Strange and Alyward bowled tidy opening spells followed by Perry and Somiah whose opening overs were also respectable. From the 12th over however Heslam and Deville really cut loose and accelerated the scoring rate with a flurry of fine shots to take Reed to 114 for 2 at the end of the 16th over. At that point Roberts 3 Overs 2 - 13, who proved the most economical of the visiting bowlers, bowled the rampant Heslam for a fine 43 and Lloyd Bowman followed for a first ball duck. Next over Deville fell caught for a hard hit 37 leaving Will Kirby and Matthew Naeem to see Reed through to 130 for 5 off their 20 Overs.In reply Broxbourne got off to a solid start with Roberts and Perry demonstrating an excellent personal understanding and exemplary running between the wickets. Despite the Reed bowling of Fitzgerald, and Heslam being reasonably tight Broxbourne achieved 5 an over for the first 5 overs and were well in the hunt to achieve a win. After all the blisteringly hot weather in recent weeks Sunday 19th July proved frustratingly generally overcast with a large number of mercifully mainly light showers peppering the Langleybury ground throughout the day. However none of these ever forced the players from the field in any of the 4 matches completed during the day.Semi Final: Reed v St Albans:The Reed v St Albans pairing lost the toss for pitches and played out their match on the 2nd ground. After the heavy rain of the day before the pitch was damp and slow and the ball would need to be powerfully struck to make it to the boundary over the  slowish outfield with its uphill rise on both sides.St Albans won the toss and not surprisingly asked Reed to bat. As expected the ball proved difficult to get away and against the tight bowling of Bloomfield and Goddard Reed made a cautious start before losing opener Benham LBW to Goddard for 5 with the score 7-1 off 3 overs. Sam Deville joined Will Heslam at the crease and the pair started to build a solid partnership with Heslam in particular playing some powerful and fluent strokes. Deville 9 fell bowled by a ball that kept low at the start of the 12th over with the score on 47. Reed skipper Sean Tidey joined Heslam at the crease but almost immediately suffered a pulled hamstring which caused him to call for a runner and restricted his fluidity. The Reed pair took the score to 72 in the 16th over before Heslam was caught trying to drive Kentish over the top for an excellent 44 off 52 balls faced, including 6 well struck boundaries. 2 further quick wickets saw [...]

On a warm but cloudy evening in front of a good crowd on the excellent Broxboune main square, Reed put Broxbourne in to bat but then proceeded to bowl without the required control and discipline. Roberts 17 and Rider 13 got Broxbourne off to good start and together with generous extras laid the foundation for a solid Broxbourne total. Ollie Benham 4 overs 1 - 16 bowled well but contributions of 22 by Harmer and a solid performance from Perry saw the home side well placed at 88 for 3 after 14 overs. With a key Reed bowler having to leave the field with sickness before beginning his spell, wicket keeper and skipper Sean Tidey had to take off the pads to perform with the ball and bowled a fine 4 over closing spell of 4 overs 2 for 8. Perry 24 not out batted well for Broxbourne but Reed won the battle of the last 5 overs conceding only a further 21 runs to leave a total of 110 to chase for victory. Reeds start got off to a slow start. Strange bowled 3 overs for only 5 runs taking the wicket of the under the weather Deville, whilst at the other end Somiah dismissed Benham for 0 in his first over and after 5 overs Reed were struggling at 14-2. Tidey 7 and Diack 0 came and went and with Reed 41 for 4 after 9 overs the match seemed firmly in Broxbourne's control. However William Heslam remained steadfast and continued to play with a calm authority, and a fine array of shots all around the wicket. Put in to bat by Reed on a dry but rather less warm evening on a good batting pitch and fast outfield, Bishops Stortford got off to a marvellous start with 41-0 on the board after 5 overs as some wayward Reed bowling was suitably punished. The introduction of Ollie Benham (4 overs 2-20) into the Reed attack stabilised the run rate a little but Kightly 48 and Roach 27 were particularly punishing on anything loose. Lewis Fitzgerald (4 overs 1-22) and Will Heslam (4 Overs 2-28) bowled acceptably but overall the Reed offering leaked 34 extras as Bishops Stortford accrued a sizeable 140 - 6 from their 20 overs. Reeds reply got off to a bad start with the previously prolific Benham and Heslam removed for 0 and 10 respectively both dismissed by the impressive Brady 3 overs 2-2. Reeds fightback was led by skipper Sean Tidey until he was needlessly run out for 17, and then the impressive and hard hitting Sam Deville took the attack to BS until he was compelled to retire on 50* in the 16th over. Hunter Diack 11 proved an admirable partner to Deville but with 44 needed off the last 4 overs Reeds task was too daunting and several wickets fell in the frantic run chase. Scot Caine 12* struck some lusty blows late on to take Reed to a 6th batting point but the BS bowling and fielding was overall much tidier and less generous than Reeds and the BS total of 17 extras (half the 34 conceded by Reed) proved the difference as Reed fell 16 runs short of the required total. A good competitive game played in a generous and exemplary spirit.
