COLTS:
The Under 11s registered a win over Saffron Walden on Monday. Charlie Walters scored 40 from only 15 deliveries in Reed’s net score of 272 for 4. He also took 1 wicket when Saffron Walden fell 14 runs short; George Arnott, Thomas Green and Oliver Tallis were the other wicket-takers.
Weirdly, the Under 13 teams of Reed and Cambridge St Giles met each other twice this week! In the Wednesday game at Dry Drayton, table-topping St Giles battered their way to 179 for 6. Adam Gardner took 3 for 12, Sam Osborne 2 for 31 and William Archer 1 for 15. Reed managed only 90 in reply. Top score was 30 (retired) by Sam Osborne and Charlie Walters and Archie McIntosh scored 16 each.
Next day at Reed St Giles made 126 for 4 when there was one wicket apiece for Thomas Green, Matthew Liebenberg, Daniel Barons and Sam Osborne. Sam also scored another unbeaten 30 before he was joined on the “retirement bench” by Sam Bayley who made 33 as Reed responded with 105 for 8.
HERTS OVER 60s:
Although not involving any Reed players, we did host the Herts / Suffolk Over 60s match on Tuesday. Kris Perera made 103 and Kim Nguyen supported with 50 when Herts reached 257 for 8 then Suffolk were restricted to 209 for 7, 2 wickets each for Tariq Hassan and Simon Gelber.
SATURDAY (SHPCL):
After his recent series of half-centuries, James Heslam this time converted his innings into an unbeaten 107 against Leverstock Green. Aided by a fifty from Ed Wharton and the mid-order all scoring freely, Reed Firsts racked-up a match-winning score of 299 for 8. Tom Greaves took 5 wickets and Sean Tidey 3 when the hosts were bowled out for 198.
The Seconds came oh so close on the Green also against Leverstock Green. Chasing 243 for 9 (3 wickets each for Matt Giblin and Matt Bowles), Chris Jackson scored 95 and Matt Sampson, 56, as Reed were all-out for 236 in the final over.
The Thirds had nothing to write home about ………………………………………. !
Well, Steve Hughes did take 2 Old Albanian wickets and held 2 catches when they knocked-off the required 62 runs in 10 overs. Reed had been bundled out for 61; Paul Garrott top-scored with 20. Arguably, the bonus was that the players missed only the first 15 minutes of the England / Sweden clash on TV!

VILLAGE CUP:
For those that have not already heard, Worlington (Suffolk & Essex) are through to the quarter-finals of the National Village Cup for the first time after defeating Foxton (Cambs & Norfolk) in Round Six. They now host Mayfield CC of Sussex on Sunday 22nd July commencing at 1300hrs.
