A maiden century from Toby Fynn, usually performing with the new ball rather than the bat, was the highlight in the friendly fixture against regular guests, Forest Gate, on the Green on Sunday. In an accomplished innings of 115 not out, Toby carried his bat as he was firstly accompanied by Bill Mansfield (10) and John Kershaw (17) when Reed set-off at 5 runs an over. Taking his opportunity up the order at number 4, Owen Hughes partnered Fynn adding 123 for the 3rd wicket. Hughes was close to a deserved half-century when he was LBW for a well-made 49. Enjoying the remaining few deliveries, Reed ended their 40 overs on 226 for 4.

Wickets were even harder for Reed to snaffle when Zafran, (44), Yasin (86 not out) and Sarwed (76 not out) set about winning the game at a canter. Steve Hughes was the only successful Reed bowler when skipper, MJE Baker, stumped the hard-hitting Zafran but no one else was able to apply the brakes and Forest Gate used only 32 overs to achieve the target.
