SATURDAY:
The 1st XI had another great win by knocking Ampthill over for 105 then using only 17 overs to win by 7 wickets. Ed Wharton had figures of 5 for 12 and Tom Greaves claimed 3 wickets too. Sean Tidey biffed 47 in the reply. As all the other matches in the Championship were rained-off, Reed grabbed the chance to gain 30 points and currently are in second position, only 4 points behind West Herts.
In the double-header, Ampthill were 7 wickets down for 70 but recovered to 167 for 7 by the end. Toby Fynn, playing his first game back from injury, took 4 of the wickets. Reed’s second string were in a good position at 80 for 3 when rain put paid to the proceedings. Matt Bowles scored 27. Reed are in 4th place in Division 4B.
The Thirds scored an underwhelming 62 all out on the Freman Oval, only Toby Emes (14) and Ben Moody (11) got double figures! Bayford & Hertford lost little time and only 1 wicket on their way to a comprehensive win. Reed are 7th in the Division 9A table.
SUNDAY:
Visitors, Orwell FC, made a competitive 247 for 9, “Sandy” Sandford reaching 101. Ben Mansfield took 4 for 22 and Richard Stuart claimed 2 wickets. Reed’s response ended on 229 for 8 with Rob Lankester’s 70 being top-score, but including useful innings by John Kershaw, (46), and Rhodri Hughes, (35).
AREA COLTS:
Both games involving Hertfordshire’s Area Colts’ Squads earlier in the week were cancelled because of the weather conditions.
