Brothers, Julien and Toby Fynn, celebrated success in the Reed CC 2016 President’s Day Double-Wicket Competition held on Sunday 31st July.
Having won their respective pools of round-robin matches, the Fynns met William Heslam and Ollie Benham in the Final.
Each pair of batsmen started with 100 runs and faced 4 overs, 2 each bowled by their opponents. Dismissals attracted penalty runs so it proved costly when Will & Ollie, who batted first, lost wickets. They achieved a Net Total of 123.
Although the Fynns surpassed that total during the last over, they then had to negotiate the remaining deliveries without being dismissed to be sure of the win. Julien duly blocked-out and victory was theirs.
President Andrew Emms made the presentation to the winners then thanked those who had organised the event and helped throughout the day. The crowd had been witness to some audacious batting shots, big-hitting, tight bowling and athletic catching and fielding.
