Saturday 2nds lost the double-header against Dunstable by 21 runs. Matt Sampson bagged 3 wickets in the first innings and Jack Caine was 36 not out at the end, but it wasn’t enough.
Saturday 3rds: Rob Willoughby (71) and Rhodri Hughes got the Thirds off to a flyer. George Garrott reached the eighties and useful knocks down the order meant the target of 275 was overhauled with 4 overs to spare in thrilling match.
Saturday 4ths kicked-off their league campaign with a loss to Baldock on their out-ground at Weston by 56 runs. Nevertheless, the predominantly young side battled well with rewards of 4 wickets for Steve Hughes and 3 for Jonny Adam.
Sunday, Village Cup: Centuries by William Heslam (135 not out) and Richard Wharton (129 not out) put Reed out of Bromham’s reach in totalling a massive 329 for 2 in their 40 overs. Three wickets each from Reece Fitzgerald and Tom Greaves plus two by Stuart “out-of-the-sun” Smith nailed it as Reed romped home by 148 runs.
