It was a case of get your man down and keep him down as Reed powered to victory against visiting Wheathampstead. Marcus Martin had won the toss and put in the opposition. The first wicket fell in the first over to Tom Walsingham and things did not get much better for the visitors after that. To their credit they tried their best to be stubborn and hang in for as long as possible but it was all in vain. Walsingham (7-3-10-2) and Peter Tidey (15-7-25-3) had started proceedings. Whilst Martin (6-3-6-2) and Karl Ward (14-4-26-3) followed after them. The fielding although not at its best was good when it counted and several hard catches were hung onto.
A target of 76 proved no obstacle for Ed Garrott (42*) and Richard Johnson (31*) who quickly smashed Reed to victory in 10.2 overs. The win will prove a huge confidence boost after a frustrating couple of weeks. The mood in the team remains high and with gap between Reed and title rivals Old Chomelians decreasing things are looking really good for Reed.
