Reed 2s demolished St Margaretsbury 2s at The Green on Saturday to record their second victory from two games as their pulsating start to life back in Division 6 continued.

Winning the toss on a day where midweek forecasts for monsoon like conditions had offered little hope of play, skipper Marcus Martin had little hesitation in asking the visitors to bat. In front of a bolstered crowd of Reed 1st and 3rd teamers, who had both had games fall victim to the great London storm of 2014, Karl Ward, fresh from taking 5 wickets last week, opened the bowling alongside talisman and all-round legend Peter Tidey. Both bowled with great skill and accuracy as they set about destroying the entire St Margaretsbury batting line up. In just 25.2 overs both Ward and Tidey had taken 5 wickets apiece to leave the visitors all out for just 38.

Ward and Tidey were well supported by their teammates excellent catching, as sharp chances were held by Tummala, Martin and ‘keeper Tim Tidey.

Reed reached their modest target for the loss of two wickets as Srikanth Tummala (9) and Captain Marcus Martin (0) both fell early attempting their trademark shots. However the returning Phil Frenay (11 Not Out) and the ever classy Richard Johnson (19 Not Out) steered Reed home with easy in just 9 overs.
