This was a must win game for Reed to ensure they took the League title. Linton won the toss and with rain in the air they put Reed into bat. With a recent century under his belt, Josh Poulton was on form and opened the batting with Cemal Ramadan. With a short boundary on the pavilion side there was always runs to be had at the Linton Ground. Steady runs came from the first few overs. 17 runs off the 4th over but then Cemal Ramadan fell in the 5th for 14 bowled by Connor Campbell.

Hugh Wrigley took up the crease and made a 76 partnership with his Captain, a short break for rain then Wrigley’s reign came to an end caught by Burleigh in the 13th over with a score of 31. A quick 4th wicket fell for no score in the following over. Next in Reece Fitzgerald took the score to 136 when he was bowled for 11 by Noah Wright with 3 overs to go. Jesse Chappell went in and held the end up well while between them 45 runs came off the last 3 overs 2 of these to Chappell, the last ball of the innings, a 4 took Josh to his second century of the season 101 not out. Final score of 181 for 4. Best of the bowling for Linton was Noah Wright 2-0-16-2.

In reply Linton’s openers scored well off the first over taking 12 runs off the opening bowler. Reed bowlers then pinned down the batsman and by the fall of the 1st wicket of M Burgess-Clark for 16 runs in the 8th over Linton were well below the run rate. The next opener M Burleigh fell in the subsequent over for 19 runs. The next two batsman Noah Wright and Oliver Barnes were taking good runs off the next few overs, but with the slow start they were always playing catch up. A 46 partnership took them through to the 14th over when Barnes had to retire injured on 35 runs. The last 5 overs saw only a further 22 runs added to the score for the loss of 6 wickets. Linton were never really in the running and fell short by 55 runs, 126 for 9. Wickets were shared across the bowlers, Reece Fitzgerald 4-0-2-5, Connor Poulton 4-0-3-23, Rhodri Hughes 4-0-1-32, Cemal Ramadan, 3-0-1-20 and Josh Poulton 2-0-1-14.
