Reed proved too strong for a good Foxton side to win the Keatley Cup for the ninth time in 10 years.

Reed Captain Stuart Smith won the toss and put Foxton into bat. This decision looked to have backfired as Foxton openers Gareth Roots (10) and Lawrence Farnham (20) took the score to 30-0 off 3 overs. However, Reed then took control with Man of the Match Jack Tidey (4-11) bowling Roots and Farnham in the same over. In Tidey’s next over Stuart Smith ran out Adam Webster then caught Tom Stone next ball, Tidey then took a 3rd wicket in 3 balls by bowling Lionel Griffin.

At 38-5 the game was as good as over, but there was still time for Tom Greaves (3-9) to bag a hatrick leaving Foxton all out for 48.

Reed’s run chase started poorly with both Smith and Greaves going cheaply, but 16 from James Heslam and 18 not out from Karl Ward saw Reed home with 7 overs to spare.

This years competition included Reed, Foxton, Buntingford, Cokenach and Royston. If any other clubs are interested in playing next year then they should contact Richard Temple at Royston Cricket Club
