Reed put up an excellent all round team performance to defeat Broxbourne on Sunday.

Batting first reed got off to a reasonable start with Simon Jackson and Heslam putting on 33. But the main partnership was between Geoff Wornham and Jackson who shared in a stand of 75 hitting the Broxborne attack to all parts. However, the wicket was damp and with the ball not coming on to the bat new batsmen found it hard to settle and the only other batsmen to make double figures were Johnson(12) and Radmore(10 not out). Nevertheless reed declared on 173-8 leaving Broxbourne roughly 40 overs to reach the target.

Broxbourne however struggled from the offset with Johnson and Neil Haslam taking early wickets. However, it was Haslam who really impressed on his way to taking 5-27. With Broxbourne at 68-6 staging a mini recovery Heslam skippering a Reed team for the first time brought himself on and took 2-0 in 6 overs before Johnson rapped up the game uprooting the last mans off stump. Allsop also bowled very well taking 1-14 off 6.
