Reed’s 2XI season finished on a high with their third consecutive league victory on Saturday. Opponents Southgate Adelaide were undone by a superb spell of bowling from veteran swing bowler Richard Robertson. Who claimed 5 wickets for 20 runs in a 12 over spell, which left Adelaide Reeling. Reed amassed 203 all out with seasons stars Ian Fulk and Karl Ward again shining. The pair built on the explosive start given to Reed by Mike Robertson who cracked a quick fire 46. Ward (58) completed another fine half century to end the season with a batting average in the sixties. Whilst Fulk’s 40 saw him reach 506 runs for the season to see him enter the Saracens Herts League all time run scoring charts for Division 7.

In response Adelaide looked to be cruising to victory on 91-1, but Richard Robertsons devastating spell saw them crumble to 116 all out, and the 30 points headed in Reeds direction. The victory saw Reed finish in 6th place just missing out on one of the four promotion slots by a single win.

Captain Jason Archer was full of praise for his side, ” This year we decided as a club the emphasis was to be on the youthful players who have come through our colts set up, with a few experienced players like myself, Richard and Steve. the youngsters Matt Bowles, Karl Ward, Fergus Martin, Ed Garrot,Rupert Martin and Ian fulk have all excelled. With this years experience behind them, next season we must be one of the favourites to go up”.
