Reed 2nd XI came out victors over Radio News in a friendly at Reed on Sunday. After winning the toss and electing to bat on a good batting track and justifying that choice by making a solid start with Blisset (60*) scoring his half century with some powerful stroke play before retiring, shortly followed by Dave Johnson (74) who continued to score freely obtaining his second half century of the weekend. A batting collapse followed, led by the opener Cook getting a hat-trick and Wlymes both finishing with 4 wickets each. A mini fight back was led by Rob Willoughby (13) and James Radmore (11) with some big hitting and good running between the wickets aided by Pallett (10). Reed ended on 195-9. Reed led the way out on the field with some good bowling from it openers, with Andy Wholley (10-1-46-1) clean bowling the opening bat Nicholson and Neil Haslam (9-1-28-4) having good opening spells leaving the visitors struggling. This bowling was aided by some good fielding and catching with Wholley, Willoughby and Baker all taking great catches. Tom Greaves was introduced and immediately found the spot with some tight bowling before taking two consecutive wickets, unfortunate not to get his hat-trick and ending with figures of (6-2-15-3). Jason Pallett (9-2-41-2) also bowled effectively tying up the batsmen scoring. With Radio news down to the last wicket they put up a mini fight back until opener Haslam trapped him lbw, Radio’s inning ending on 157. |
