Reed’s 3rd XI made short work of their inaugural sortie in to the Herts League on Saturday. The fixture was held on Therfield Heath, Royston where Reed 3rd XI will play their “home” fixtures this season.

Potters Bar won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost their first wicket early-on to the experienced Neil Haslam (2 for 33). Whiffen, Randiaka and Titmus (39) put-up some resistance, but steady bowling from Keiran Ward (2 for 26), Tom Greaves (2 for 17), Marcus Baker, (1 for 6) and Fergus Martin, (1 for 2) overcame the visitors reducing them to an all-out total of 114.

Steve Lovergrove and Mseeh Naeem posted a quick-fire 62 for Reed’s opening partnership in their reply. Naeem retired after reaching a personal score of 63 to leave Rob Willoughby (19 not out) and Fergus Martin (10 not out) to complete the job. The reply took less than 16 overs.
