Despite a horrendous start losing influential openers Baz Curtis and James Heslam, both for ducks in the 1st over Reed outplayed Potters Bar in this rain effected game. The fall of the early wickets bought together Chris Jackson and the returning Tom Fulk. Both players stroked the ball to all corners of the wet ground putting on 91 for the 3rd wicket before Jackson was unfortunately out caught when well placed on 42.

All rounder Will Clarke (32) batted superbly with Fulk to take him to his 50 in his 1st game of the season. Reed were 151-3 in the 38 when the heavens open, which meant the game was shorten by 16 overs. A change in batting strategy occurred with Fulk and Clark running hard between the wickets and striking many boundaries. Fulk despite losing his partner Clark reached his 1st ever league hundred with a straight drive finishing unbeaten on 105 as Reed scored 200-5 in their 45 overs.

In reply Potters Bar needed to get off to a fast start however this was not the case with Michael Berks and Pete Tidey tying them back and only managing 12 off the 1st 7 overs, leaving them 32 overs to score another 189 runs. Reed fielded superbly, took some great catches, bowled tightly throughout and managed to take regular wickets however the task of bowling out Potters Bar in 39 overs on the road at Reed was always going to be unlikely.

Potters Bar continued to chase the score however they limped to 140 in their 39 overs. Tidey, Andrew Emms and Clark all took 2 wickets, whils Berks, Jackson and Reed number 90 Richard Johnson all bowled economically.

Reed captain Simon Jackson said that “the points situation of 17 to 6 was about right as all bar the 1st over we had the better of the game. It was great having Fulky and Johno back especially with Andy Young and James Bell not being available. It was disappointing not to win however it was great to bounce back from last weeks poor performance.”
