After 3 consecutive league wins Reed have now made it back to back defeats after a poor team performance away against Old Finchleans. After getting to the ground minutes before the start, losing the toss and then James Heslam in the 1st over, Reed needed to rebuild their innings with hard hitting Baz Curtis and solid Chris Jackson trying to do this. Curtis managed to stroke and strike the fast bowling attack before taking a liking to OF’s slower bowlers. However once Curtis was bowled for 54 with Reed on 79 in the 14th, very little resilience was shown by the Reed batsman. Returning Chris Jackson batted 23 overs for his 29 and the only support offered was brother Simon Jackson who held an end up for 18 overs as Reed were dismissed for 119 in only 41 overs.

In reply Old Finchleans lost 1 of their 6 Depala’s in Andy Youngs (1 for 43) 2nd over. The ever dependable Pete Tidey (8 overs for 20 runs) tried to tie down the OF’s batting however C Depala stroked the ball to all corners of the ground on his way to match winning 70 batting with D Depala. Despite wickets from seamer Andy Emms and spinner Chris Jackson could not stop Finchleans knocking off Reeds total for the loss of 3 wickets in only 26 overs. Skipper Simon Jackson was obviously disappointed with the result and was hoping for a better result at home to Northwood Town at Reed on Saturday.
